Aquitaine Gites Reviews

A fantastically equipped gite. Every need catered for. Fabulous facilities , grounds were truly beautiful. Ideal base for exploring the surrounding area or perfect for relaxing by the pool. We had teenagers and a six year old and all were very content. We will be returning..?

We travelled from Australia to visit family and friends in the UK but could not resist having a ‘holiday’ holiday firstly at Aquitaine Gites. I stayed here a couple of years ago and jumped at the chance to visit again. The two weeks we had here were the best part of the 5 week trip. The accommodation has everything you could want, it’s like home away from home. We made good use of the bike hire and enjoyed riding into the local village every morning for coffee and to get fresh bread……ah the memories!! Andrew is an excellent host and nothing is too much trouble, even down to the homemade jam that’s included in the welcome pack. There is an excellent winery nearby and since moving to Australia I have become a bit of a wine snob – the wine did not disappoint. My only regret is that I should have visited friends and family in the UK first and then ended our trip at Aquitaine Gites; I would arrived home feeling much more relaxed. Thank you for your hospitality Andrew, we will definitely be back!!

Had a wonderful holiday, the gite was spacious and clean, the pool was fabulous and the gardens lovely. Mike loved the red squirrel passing within a couple of feet while he sat quietly outside each morning. Andrew is a very attentive and informative host and we would absolutely love to return. Fabulous !!

Once again we have returned to this gite for the third year running, and as usual we were not disappointed. It had been re decorated both inside and out, and the added bonus was a new handrail in the swimming pool for extra support getting up and down the steps. We had a lovely welcome pack waiting for us, which was very handy when arriving late. Everything was spotless, and the gardens were in top condition and well maintained. We found a great Chinese buffet in the area, just a five minute car ride, which I would highly recommend, food fantastic and very clean interior. I would suggest a visit to Monflanquin, a lovely village, and a cyclists dream. There are several outlying villages which are well worth a visit, but best of all, the Lou Gaillot winery is just a short drive away, and the White and rose wine are to die for, please visit and taste you will not be disappointed. I would highly recommend this gite to both young families and older people like ourselves. We have already booked for 2018 which will be our fourth year.

After a gap of a couple of years, we returned to Aquitaine Gites for our fifth year. As our family has grown, we migrated from the smaller Le Lot to the upstairs La Garonne. The facilities remain excellent, clean and well maintained – there is a new pool liner for the large secured heated pool and new decking for the downstairs apartments. The boat on the River Lot has become more popular as the children have become older (again access to the river fenced off for child safety, oars, motor, life jackets). We appreciated the welcome pack and the vegetables and fruit grown in the garden for the guests. Andrew continued to be incredibly attentive to his guests’ needs without being intrusive promptly dealing with any queries. We enjoyed again the local night markets which are an inexpensive and entertaining way of eating out in the evening. A local vineyard produces wonderful wines and there are local attractions for all ages. The local Auchan hypermarket is 5 mins drive away. Being very near to the local greenway (Voie Verte) meant easy and safe cycling/walking.running – we enjoyed cycling a few kms to the local boulangerie for fresh bread.
